This 1-day firearms training course focuses on tactical deployment of the shotgun for personal protection and home defense.
This course begins with safety, operation, shooting stances, grip, slinging, immediate action, reloading, and zeroing of the shotgun. Students will refine close target skills and develop proficiency out to 50 yards while incorporating movement, varied engagements, and multiple targets.
This firearms training course takes the student beyond the basics of the shotgun and introduces the student to deployment techniques that are critical when deploying the shotgun for personal defense.
The following firearms training topics will be covered:Firearms training safety review.Principals of personal defense.Deployment methodology and concepts.Use of the shotgun for home defense. Mental conditioning and combat mindset.Fundamentals of shooting the shotgun.The natural action stance.Loading / unloading the shotgun.Review use of conventional and tactical sling systems. Presentation from low ready, high ready and indoor ready positions.Combat gun-handling skills.Moving off the line of force. Threat assessment and area scanning. Dominating the weapon, threat and visual areas. Ammunition management and reloading techniques. Buckshot patterning and effective distances. Select slug techniques.Transition to secondary weapon system. Malfunction clearance drills. Multiple threat engagement. Engaging threats during continuous movement. Fighting with the shotgun at CQB distances. Use of the flash sight picture vs. perfect sight alignment. Weapon retention issues.Team shoot-off drills. Man vs. man stress course - combined skills evaluation. Shotgun manipulation standard drill evaluation.

This course covers manipulation, zeroing, how to clear malfunctions, optics and use of various sighting systems, ballistics, varied position shooting, multiple targets, hostage resolution, night evolutions and flashlight techniques for low level light conditions, problem-solving, and CQB considerations.

Based on the FBIs's Street Survival course and designed for those who identify the need for combining a strong foundation in defensive handgun techniques and tactical long gun (shotgun or carbine) skills. Realizing repeating a qualification course is not training, shooters are given problems requiring split second decisions and responses throughout the course with special emphasis continually placed on street survival skills and mindset.
